A great documentary on the complexities of race/colour within the Latino community. This first part tracks across much of South America dissecting, exploring and exposing the current and past relationship ‘Latin’ countries and peoples have with blackness.
What is intersting is that in the conversations had in this documentary I hear echos of conversations and opinions from people my Ethiopian/Eritrean community where blackness is somehow ‘bad’ or the opposite of beauty.
I read the quote the other day on twitter and it sort of shocked me into thinking, yes, why do we need to be reminded? I think is docu explores some of the reasons
the fact that we have 2 remind ourselves that Black is beautiful is evidence of an offense so grotesque that if ever met air it wld explode
